Of all the things every single English teacher and English learner has to face, the irregular verb list has to be the most universal. It's everywhere: in teaching materials, on promotional material for language schools, and in cheat sheets for language exams. The irregular verb list is so 'normal' in English language teaching that we never think that much about it, and yet this aspect of English has some fascinating history and even new developments. We look at these, and revisit ideas and activities on how to teach this most ubiquitous of grammar points.
